Strategic Long-term Goals
Our sustainability approach is driven by—and measured against—our strategic long-term goals, which further integrate sustainability into our business processes to minimize environmental impacts and maximize value for our stakeholders.
We review and update these goals on a periodic basis to ensure we are focused on items that are relevant to the company’s strategic priorities and our current operations. We also seek input from stakeholders.
In 2019, we defined new goals for water conservation, waste management and stakeholder engagement/shared value creation. We also expanded our long-term goal to reduce our greenhouse gas footprint to encompass our alumina refining segment in addition to our aluminum smelting operations. These goals will be implemented in 2020.
