COVID-19 Update

Alcoa continues to take strong measures to protect its workforce and its locations from the threat caused by COVID-19, which is challenging the world’s economies and contributing to significant uncertainty in global markets.

Presently, all of Alcoa’s bauxite mines, alumina refineries, aluminum smelters, casthouses and its rolling mill remain operational and with appropriate protocols in place to protect our workforce, suppliers, customers and communities. Those actions include alternating shift patterns, social distancing, increased cleaning and disinfecting, remote work where practical and regular communication to our workforce regarding personal hygiene, including frequent handwashing.

Alcoa is also abiding by all appropriate public health and governmental regulations to help combat Covid-19.

“The situation caused by Covid-19 continues to evolve, and we will continue to adapt our approach, acting with speed and efficiency to protect our people and our business,” said Alcoa President and Chief Executive Officer Roy Harvey.

Alcoa’s first-quarter 2020 conference call is scheduled for April 22.

Supporting communities
Many of our locations are receiving increased requests for charitable contributions to assist with healthcare and/or social service work related to the pandemic. Alcoa Foundation will assist in these efforts.

The Foundation’s board has allocated $4 million, or approximately 70 percent of its annual $5.7 million budget, for grantmaking in our local communities. This includes $1 million to support coronavirus relief in the communities where we operate. This is in addition to the nearly $3 million the Foundation already committed, which can be used for humanitarian aid projects, including relief related to Covid-19.
